Are 2010 Cadillacs made mostly in China, and assembled here?
I bought a new Cadillac CTS, in 2009. Soon I started having typical made in China problems. The remote fell apart after 2 months, fuse box had to be changed after 5 months, the seats have a made in China look and feel, to them. All the Cadillac accessories in the showroom, are made in China. I noticed on my official documentation, that the company of origin is listed as USA, and Shanghai. Also the entire wiring harness, has a cheap look to it. I suspect the whole car, except the body is from China. Needless to say, I sold the car last month.
The CTS is made in Lansing, Michigan. It may be made with parts (especially electrics) from China, but that’s where the GM suppliers have outsourced everything to, because GM (and all the automakers) demand that the parts become cheaper ever year. There is only so far you can cut the price of a fuse box until the quality starts to suffer, which appears to be the case here. The whole industry is guilty, but GM is far and away the most guilty in this regard. GM does not, for its part, regulate where suppliers make their parts, so they would say it isn’t their responsibility.
