Saxophone and I have been arguing?
Ok, I’ve been practicing rigorously lately, (2-3 hours a day) and I’ve discovered my strong points and my weak points. Strong points- Tone, Volume, Intonation. Weak points- Sight Reading, exotic keys (Ex. C# minor/E major and up), and fingering quickly. Now, my sax is wanting to go one direction, but I want to go the other and often my fingers get very tied up. So my question is, should I invest more time in my Universal Methods for Saxophone, or my music that I will be playing? My goal is to play quicker and not get tied up as much. Thank you.
If you want to play things faster and not get muddled up then start off slow and every time you repeat it, gradually get faster. Universal Methods for Saxophone will definitely help you play other music easier and will improve your sight reading. You just have to be patient. Sight reading won’t come to instantly. Sight reading is one of my weak points too.
