i have a squire,fender guitar im pretty good abd right now it has steel strings it has tuning pegs u put the string thru then twist to adjust tuning to drop d er whatever. its full size,pretty big, no cut out. after my dentist appointment tomarrow i was going to go to music city and see if they can put nylon strings on it and take the steel ones off. and i want nylon strings on it, im experienced and want to play more classical and relaxing music. is nylon a good idea or will it damage the guitar, or just wont fit on the guitar? the guitar also has a slanted bridge and below are 6 pegs with black dots on the tops. help! plz and thanks!
It’s not going to damage the guitar, but most nylon classical strings have plain ends. You can’t use pegs to hold them in the bridge. You have to get the right ones.Folk strings have the ball end. But another problem is the diameter of the nylon strings. They are bigger. The nut on your guitar is made for steel. The nylon won’t fit properly. Also the bridge on yours is as you say slanted for the steel strings. Classicals have a flat bridge. Tuning on yours won’t be quite perfect.
