Is it possible to put bass strings onto a regular electric guitar?
Is it possible to put bass strings onto a regular electric guitar? or would the pick ups f*** up or the truss rod not be able to take the tension? I’m guessing you would have to replace the tuners and machine heads with bass ones and the nut would either have to be filed down or replaced. The short version, would a sound come out of it through a bass amp that sounds like a bass guitar?
You probably would not get a very good sound even if you did manage replace the hardware and get the strings on. A guitar is not as long as a bass and it would be difficult, if not impossible, to tune the strings to the correct pitch without breaking something. The intonation would probably be horrible as well and it would be really awkward to play.
I would recommend you buy a bass instead of modding a guitar with bass parts and potentially ruining the instrument.
