GUITAR HELP with locking tremolo!?
I bought an Ibanez rg5ex1 not that long ago… this guitar came a tremolo bar im new to this locking stuff. Well anyways it has a edge 3 tremolo does it work in the same way a floyd rose does? Am i supposed to tune it then lock down the screw things down with the alan wrench? then i dont get the next part when you have to “fine tune it.” I also heard that the gauge of your string effects it also is that true? Its because i used 9′s then i switched to 10′s i my tremolo got real stiff and when i used it my 3rd string snapped… anyways im real piss that i can seem to figure anything out with this guitar! plz help…
Oh yeah, I got that problem too when I got my ibanez rg1570. Anyways, yeah, basically you tune them, then lock it with an allen wrench. “Fine Tuning” are basically those little knobs at the end of the bridge. Their for people who need to tune their guitar, but are too lazy to take out the locks.
The gauge of you strings matters when it comes to the action of the guitar. Basically, you have to get your guitar “set up” to have certain gauges of strings, because of the different tensions of them. You can do it yourself, but its harder. Here is the link on how to do it.
Basically, you take out the back of the guitar, and tighten or loosen the screws in the back to adjust the action of the new strings. Btw, edge 3 tremolo are the same thing as a floyd rose tremolo.
