What should I do about my carburetor problem? Please read details.?
We replaced the choke thermastat on this rochester carb(#17057262) and still have trouble with it starting up when it’s cold. It will cause two black soot spots on the driveway(as well as alotta condensation). We just got the motor rebuilt about 3 months ago It’s a 350 pontiac (originally a 400)..We have driven it about 600 miles..We are using Vavoline 5w30 oil. The guy that did the work claims that it’s a carb problem..nothing wrong with the motor…It runs ok once it is warmed up..but first start every morning it smokes alot and has dark soots on the ground.We took it to a mechanic and he thought of replacing the carb with a new one..an electric choke edlebrock..This is a 1977 trans am and the height of the carb is an issue for the shaker. What should we do? Your advice is greatly appreciated.
that carb can be rebuilt for a cheap price or you can go buy a new one.
