  Large difference between less and more expensive picks?
  

  I was just about to head out to Guitar Center to restock on some picks. I did a quick look at the GC website and a question resurfaced: Why are there 20 dollar picks?

  Like is there a large difference between

  Do you guys have any preferences?

  Of the samples you provided, the price differs because of the difference between 1 dozen and 6 dozen. Per pick, the cost isn’t terribly different.

  There are differences between picks: what they’re made of, the thickness, the shape, texture, etc.

  Tone fanatics will swear by one pick over another. And they may be on to something, but if you play a lot like I do (I burn through picks easily) and you’re not made of money, then I look for whatever is cheapest.

  However, I prefer the Dunlop Ultex 0.73s which is firm, but still has a good snap to them. And they do wear less than the cheap plastic.

  But like most folks, I lose picks easily. And I give a good amount away. So I usually buy bulk plastic picks.

  And I also like the Dunlop thumbpicks. Color doesn’t bother me too much. Cheers!
