Mahogany or Alder? Which makes the best electric guitar body?
My Rally les paul has a Mahogany body and Maple top.Rally guitars are fairly new to the uk market and until now have been sold too cheap for what they are.Rally also produce Tokai and Epiphone but they put more into there own which then go on the market at a fraction of the price of the better known brands despite being actually better than them.So,i have a Rally GL400 custom that i just cannot truly value.It has a carved Mahogany bod and so to my question.Which is best Mahogany or Alder??? Please help,thanks

I would expect you will discover this is a matter of personal choice and there is no absolute best. Each wood has different tonal qualities. Each makes a good body, but each sounds slightly different from the other. My own personal preference is for swamp ash. I prefer the sound of it over either mahogany or alder.
