should i sell my first guitar?

my first guitar was a dark wood alvarez acoustic. it was about 300 dollars. now, i have a taylor guitar. i don’t play my alvarez, so should i sell my alvarez? my mom doesn’t want me too because it was my first guitar and she has my sibling’s first instruments. what wold you do? and where would you sell it? at a guitar shop? ebay? craigslist? i want to get as much money as possible for it. i want anybody’s opinion on this: mom’s, teen’s, grandmom’s, etc.!!! oh, and i’m 14 and got my alvarez at 11/12

Are you the sentimental type and could guarantee that at age 40 you wouldn’t regret getting rid of your first guitar? I agree with your mom; keep it! By the time you reach 40 years of age you could have acquired several more guitars, but the first one that you learned on will always have a special place in your collection.

I’ve bought and sold many guitars during my military career because I couldn’t always travel with them when I rotated to another assignment, but my first guitar, an LG-3 Gibson parlor acoustic, is still with me. I had loaned it to my friend when I joined the Army and 41 years afterward I got it back. It looked like it had been dragged down a dirt road behind a pickup truck, but I was able to have it rebuilt. It plays better now than ever before.

Keep your Alvarez; it is a quality acoustic.
