Adjustable guitar nut?
OK I’m not quite sure how to phrase this but….I’m playing a Fender Stratocaster modeled guitar at the moment and I wanted to upgrade to a different guitar soon for a few reasons. I also want to play heavier gauge strings but can’t on this guitar unless i permanently file down the nut so they fit.
Are there guitars that come with an essentially “adjustable” nut that will take strings of all sizes so i can switch it up?
Never heard of an adjustable nut before. Changing a nut is no big deal. Theres usually just a drop or two of glue holding it on so it can easily be taken off. The nut slots can also be made bigger with a nut file. What gauge strings are you going to use? Most strats that I work on will easily accept 11 or 12 gauge with very little , or sometimes no filing at all. Or like I said changing a nut is very easy.
If you are getting a new guitar have the folks at the shop make sure that it will work with your gauge strings before you buy it.
