is it normal for the bass e string’s bridge pin to sit higher than the rest of the strings?
i just bought a new guitar, seagull s6 original, and put medium gauge strings on it. the rest of the strings seem fine.. but this bridge pin is being a real pain in the ass. whenever i tighten it, the pin stars to raise itself.. and it’s giving me and annoying buzz when i play that string as a result of it.
What is happening is the slot that should be cut in the bridge to lock the string in isn’t big enough or it isn’t there at all. Generally, Seagulls don’t have a lot of problems so take it to a guitar shop and talk to the repairman and have him back-cut the slot at roughly a 45 degree angle but it must be made at roughly the same diameter of the string. It could also be that the hole for the bridge pin isn’t large enough. The last thing that it could be is the ball of the string isn’t locking against the bridge pin. It will need to be adressed from the bridge pin hole as well. One of these things will fix your problem.
