What are some good ways to modify a bass?
I have a cheap First Act precision bass, and i was looking for some ways to make it better, like with new pickups, strings, etc. My main bass is a fretless, so i don’t really feel like buying a whole new p-bass to have as a backup, but rather just customize the one i have. Any suggestions for pickups, or anything else that will improve the sound of my bass?

Hey Reg,
Check out the Don Henley stuff with Pino Palladino on it, like “New York Minute.” Also, Henley’s “Boys of Summer” is a cool line.. that was Larry Klein on bass, and I’m pretty sure it was fretless. Then there’s Paul Simon’s “Graceland” album, with Bakithi Kumalo on fretless. I’m probably overlooking a lot of stuff, but those are some good pop music examples.
