Guitar grounding HUM on Strat, only in 2nd position of switch?
Guitar grounding HUM on Strat, only in 2nd position of switch?
Please no replies like just for points like, “take it to a repair guy.”
Looking for someone who knows something about wiring.I removed the pickguard to see check the brand of pickups, when I replaced it, there was an awful hum in all but the 2nd position from the top. What is it, most likely? Thx
you must have disconnected the ground wire that leads to the tremolo claw. This wire is vital to get the correct grounding and it is usually soldered onto the back of one of the potentiometers and to the claw. It is very easy to accidentally disconnect this wire if you remove the pick guard. Do you remember there being a wire that ran from the electronic components down into the guitar? that was it. Either this or you have messed up the ground wiring on the output jack some how. Either way you should take it to your local music shop and let them fix it for you
