Re-stringing my bass guitar?
I have an extended neck bass (it has 24 frets), and I want to know if I have to buy longer stings? This is my first time restringing the bass, so I’m not sure. The neck isn’t that much longer, just a little.

Hey:
Im betting that those strings you have picked out will work. It is not the number of frets, but the scale length that matters. I own several 24 fret neck basses. Some of these are 34″ scale, which is a standard in bass guitars. Some of these basses you can also string through the body, and those strings will work even on those.
In turn, I have quite a few basses with 24 fret necks that those strings will not work on. These are basses that have a 35″ scale.
One way to find out…. take your bass to your local music store to find out. I suggest not taking it to guitar center. There staff isn’t the most knowledgeable in the business.
