i usually play in standard tuning with .09 ernie balls. i have 3 springs on the trem.
once upon a time i put some ghs boomer .10′s on. when i brought it up to standard, the bridge was pulled so tight that i couldn’t do dips, and certain notes would set the springs buzzing (which the pickups heard). needless to say, i went back to .09′s. the question is, what could i do to facilitate .10′s and above? would adding springs to the system help or make it worse? do i adjust the screws holding the bridge to the body? please and thank you.
a “sissy” strat? just like hendrix, clapton, gilmour and srv? right. so what do you play, a bc rich in drop a with .13′s?go to guitar center or some music store and ask them about a mechanic that does decent work (usually outside of the store, not connected at all with the store) and have them tune or build your guitar. they know tricks to get your instrument to how you want it. your best fortune would be to find someone that tunes/tweaks circuit bands’ instruments.
stock instruments are almost never adequate enough and almost all musicians require tweaks and adjustments. expect to pay $100, because the guy has bills to pay, but depending on your relationship, can get advice that is priceless, and may even get to learn something that you can sell or tweak for somebody else.
