Does anyone know if you can set opera speed dial as homepage???
Hi, i use opera 9.2 and love the speed dial feature, i wanted to know if its possible to set this as my homepage, so that when opera starts i get the 9 sites within speed dial tab displayed straight away so i can just pick the one i want.
Can anyone help??

If you change the startup to open a blank page, then Opera 9.2 will open with speed dial always, provided your speed dial isn’t hidden or disabled. Here’s how you do it.
Click on Tools->Preferences (hit Ctrl+F12 or Alt+p)>Make sure ur in the ‘general’ tab.
Now here in the Startup dropdown select ‘start with blank page’ and hit OK. Now whenever you start opera 9.20 it’ll start with Speed dial.
Also make sure that ‘Allow window with no tab’ is unchecked under Tools->Preferences->Advanced-> Tabs.Well, now for sure whenever you start Opera, you’ll see the 9 thumbnails of speed dial. However, this doesn’t actually make speed dial the homepage. But the setting which i explained above, surely solves your problem.
But if you still insist that speed dial should also open when you hit the homepage shortcut keys in opera (Ctrl+space OR Alt+Home) then, you’ll have to map those shortcut keys to open a new page. that way when the homepage shortcuts are pressed, speed dial opens.Here’s how to do that.
Tools > Preferences > Advanced > Shortcuts > Now click Edit in the keyboard setup section. Now in the search box type ‘go to homepage’ (without quotes) Now all you got to do is change the entries of space ctrl and home alt. You can see that they are set to ‘go to homepage’. Just double click where it says go to homepage and type in ‘new page’ (without quotes) in place of ‘go to homepage’ and hit enter. Don’t worry if the entry vanishes. It is still there.Finally hit OK to close the edit and preference box. Well that’s it, now whenever you hit the homepage shortcuts , you again got speed dial now! since Opera 9.2 new page is attached to speed dial.
Well, the things i explained above surely work(i performed the steps as i was writing to be sure) and are solution to your problem, although they are a workaround to setting speed dial as a homepage directly, because speed dial cannot be set as a homepage by just typing in an address in the home page field since it is a part of the ‘new tab’ in Opera 9.2
