4 string yamaha bass guitar?
I have 4 string bass guitar, I have round wound strings bass boomers I find my hand hurts after I play. I have frets is it ok to put flat wound strings on my bass will it ware down the frets or anything for some reason i heard that. That’s why they are mostly used for fret less basses. Thanks in advance
Flatwound strings won’t damage the frets any more than round ones. The sound won’t be as bright and punchy as you have with round wound strings, though. Flat wound strings tend to sound more thuddy than poppy — sort of like the bass sounds associated with rock bands of the ’60s and early ’70s. But the fret wear should be minimal.
