I need help with my guitar?
I have a Jackson Randy Rhoads Model.
It has a locking nut nd a Floyd Rose locking bridge, I’ve tuned it many times before but for some reason noe when I tune one string and then the other, the first one goes out of tune by 2 steps(down) I tune that one that went out of tune, then go on to the third one, then keep doing that over and over till i get to the top one. But then it turns out the brige ids lifted like two inches. Am I doing something wrong? Is it my string Gauges?

52 or 56Welcome to the world of full floater bridges!!! I”ve seen people struggle with this exact problem for hours!! An EXCELLENT tip for ya is to start at the top strings(the B,E skinny)get them in and lock them,these two cause the least amount of tension believe it or not…then do your bottom 2 (E,A,fat)…you might want to tune them to 1/3 flat due to when you lock the nut,they tend to go up 1/3 sharp.if you’re using an electric tuner go 3 dots below perfect…then finally do your middle two(D,G)…the tension from the top two and bottom two will keep the middle in check for ya…finally make your fine tuning with the “rollers” located on your bridge to get it perfect.Like I said you are NOT the first or last to deal with this problem…
Another way to do it with less headaches is to unlock each nut and get all the strings in a “ballpark” tuning(I suggest flat,due to the locking usually puts the strings sharp)then when you lock them in,at least you won’t be all over the place,like you’re dealing with now…then use your rollers to bring it to perfect pitch..Can you tell I too have suffered this same exact fate…Now I’m getting them all the time to do “set ups”…with time you’ll be changing strings and tuning in about a half hour.You should see the peoples faces when I tell them it will be 30 minutes if you want to wait…now its funny,it’s not when you put 3 hours in,and you’re STILL not in tune….Good luck,hope this helped,it’s made the difference for me!!
Oh yeah string gauge WILL make a difference if you go from light,to something extremely heavy,it will put more tension on the bridge pulling it waaaay up…since it takes more tension to put a string that’s a 62 gauge rather than say,52..
