Recording Set-Up Seems to Be Picking Up Radio Frequencies. Help?
I have a small recording set up for voice overs. Since I moved it seems to picking up weird frequencies on my recordings. Today I heard big band music clearly in one test recording which leads me to believe I am picking up radio frequencies. Is this possible?
I am using a Macbook with Garageband, my mixer is a Behringer with xenyx Preamps and my mic is a Studio Projects Cardioid Condenser.
I am currently using a mic arm for my mic and have my mixer on a separate desk to avoid picking up a hum from it.
I am not too familiar with the dos and don’ts of recording. If you have any insight, I would be ever so grateful for it.
Thanks!
Very possible. You may live very near an AM tower. You can try running a wire from the center screw of an electrical outlet to various metal equipment to see if that helps. Keep cables as short as possible ans make sure you don’t use those 3 wire-2 wire adapters.
