Guitar players, I need help?
Hi guys. Well, every now and again I’ll pick up my guitar, but the only things I really do are play what I know. For example, I’ll play some parts of Master Of Puppets and then some Boston and Queen. But I can’t seem to focus on one song. It’s like I’m only learning the easier parts of songs and just repeat them. I’m taking a guitar class for a year when schools rolls in – a whole year of lessons free
But is this a newbie thing? Or maybe a mental thing. Hell, it could even a combo of both for all I know. Thanks for any help on this guys.
Oh boy… What guitar player DOESN’T know what ultimate-guitar.com is….I seemed to have the same problem. I would have ALL the patience in the world to learn the parts that I want to of the song, but I couldn’t play a whole song all the way through if you wanted me to. What I recently figured out is this is how you do it:
Commit yourself to a song. Sit down with the tab (music sheet, etc.), a music player (to play the song you’re learning), and your guitar with no distractions. Make this promise: “I will not learn any new songs until I can play this song all the way through.” I WOULD also say “I will not learn any new songs OR PLAY ANY OLD SONGS….” but I take that back because when I am learning a hard bit of a song it helps me to take a break and play something else every once in a while, then go back to learning.
