navigation lights on 69 checkmate boat?
I am trying to hook my stern and bow lights to a “push/pull switch”. if anyone could help me with the wiring that would be great! Any info will be useful i am definitely new to this.
ok i appreciate the help, but im still having trouble. i have both lights (bow and stern) on at same time while hooked up to battery but im have trouble with the push pull switch. what wires go to te switch. i have ground from bow and ground from stern going to switch but besides that what other wires need to go there. thanks alot for the help1They are wired as follows: the ground wires from both lights are connected to the ground bar in the console or to the ground terminal on the battery. A 12 volt positive lead is wired to the switch supply terminal from a fused power supply. One terminal on the switch comes on first. That will be for the stern light/ anchor light. The second terminal is for the bow light. When you turn on the switch to the first position only the anchor light only will come on. When you switch to the second position all the lights will come on.
Edit: the ground does not go to the switch. The ground goes to the negative side of the battery. You need to supply the switch 12 volts from the battery (with the proper fuse for protection) to the supply terminal on the switch. Then find out what terminal gets power first (that would be where you connect the stern lights positive lead) and then what terminal on the switch gets power (along with the first) on the second switch position. That is where you hook up the bow light. It may also be possible that the switch you have does not work in this manner, you may need to buy a different switch, a 3 position switch that is “off, on , on”.
