Upgrading a SSS Fender Stratocaster to HSS. Is it possible?
I have a Fender Stratocaster but for the music I do I need more output from the guitar for recordings so my first option is to get single coil sized humbuckers.
But I was wondering if I can change the pickguard for example with this one:

And get a humbucker and 2 single coil sized buckers.
What I noticed is that on the Bridge pickup for a Humbucker the screws are in a slightly different place and that’s what makes me wonder if it’s possible.

HristiyanHello, Hristiyan! Yes, you can certainly change the pickguard, but be aware of a couple of things. First, the mounting holes for the pickguard may not line up exactly. There are sometimes slight position differences between manufacturers (although Fender is very consistent within their various model lines), and you could possibly need to shift a hole location or two (check with the manufacturer for compatibility). Second (and more importantly), make sure your guitar has the “swimming pool” or “bathtub” routing in the body under the pickguard, as opposed to individual single-coil cutouts. Most likely you have the larger routing, but do check (remove the 11 retention screws, and lift up the pickguard assembly). You do not want to have to completely disassemble your guitar, and then have to take it to a shop for routing to accommodate a full-sized humbucker! Let me know if I can help further.
