Fender guitar pickups guard cutting?
How to mod my Strat’s pickguard single coil slot on the bridge position so that it could fit a normal humbucker size pickups? will it easily crack,etc..? Pls gimme a website that will show steps with illustration.. Thx all
If you want to do that yourself, the best way to do this will be to use a router with a jig of some sort to keep it from destroying the whole thing. Doing it on the fly will be incredibly difficult and will likely cause either unsteady lines or a total spin out that eats up a chunk of the pickguard. If you try to do it by hand, it will crack easily, but most likely will crack in ways that you really don’t like that could really mess up the pickguard cosmetically and structurally.
If you want to save yourself a lot of time and worry while having the best possible results, just buy a new pickguard. It’ll cost a few bucks, but it’s probably the best option.

Another option is to use a single coil size humbucker and stick with your stock pickguard. Seymour Duncan’s Little ’59 is a phenomenal pickup and sounds very close to the fullsize version. The Hot Rails and Cool Rails pickups are also both very good.
