What’s the difference between bronze and phosphor bronze acoustic strings?
I trying to decide what strings to buy and would like to know what the advantages and disadvantages of each type of string are when it comes to things like sound, picking style, how long they last, etc…
Bronze (usually called 80/20 Bronze) start out really bright and brassy – but age quickly. Phosphor Bronze are a little less bright but last far longer. People who change their strings every week or two tend to like 80/20. I play professionally and always use phosphor – they will last a month before starting to sound dull.
