Which works better with guitar effects pedals… patch cables or straight coupler/connectors.?
I am mostly concerned with best tone quality. I realize couplers won’t always work with all pedal combinations due to different placements of input and output jacks on pedals from various manufacturers. However, when it is possible to connect two pedals with a coupler (such as two boss pedals) is this preferable to using short patch cables?
there could be a difference particularly if you have a large pedal board. consider how much wire you add with cables between guitar and amp, apart from cable leading in and out of board. if all pedals were true bypass you could have issues. i doubt you’ll run into this but it is one of the only possible differences that i could think of. apart from getting low grade cable that could possibly pickup interference because of poor shielding.
