It’s a California thing. Their emissions are a different world from the rest of the U.S. I’m from NC, so I could easily be wrong about this … but I think if your motor is bard then its a legal swap and you won’t have any issues from the DMV or police or emission folks. I’m not sure why they’re so anal over there, but apparently they want you to keep the original motor that came in your car.
That Del Sol may sound good, but don’t ever expect it to run in the low 13′s without forking out between $3,000 – $5,000 more. Of course once you pay that much it might be feasible to hit the high, high 12′s.
Doesn’t sound bad for the price though. That kind of motor swap is probably worth $2000 by itself not to mention the other parts he’s installed.
