    Driving on the main road for the first time-any tips?

    Hello, I have just started my Driving lessons and was told my next lesson will be on the main road, and I am petrified!
    I don’t feel completely ready for this but my instructor said he wouldn’t let me go out there if he didn’t feel I was ready.
    My main fears are:
    Stalling
    Not moving off fast enough after a traffic light has turned green
    Driving too slow and holding up traffic.

    Does anyone have any tips? i.e how to move off quickly on a manual car, (I stop ata red light, hand-break on, set the gas, bring clutch up to biting point, when the lights turn amber I release the hand break and bring the clutch up a bit more to move-this bit normally takes me 6ish seconds before I actually move off, but i think this is 5 seconds too long) Any help please???

    Don`t be worried, that is why you have L plates on the car and your instructor has dual controls in the car so you don`t get into trouble, if anyone gets annoyed with you just ignore them, they do not matter because there is one thing that all we drivers have in common, we all had to learn and we all had to drive on the road for the first time, good luck, it is easier than you think and you will get better as you get more used to it.
    PS.
    you don`t need any tips such as those you ask for, that is what you are paying your instructor for, your instructor will explain all that you need to know.
