  Which guitar case should I bring to school?
  

  I’ve got two guitar cases for my acoustic. They are both Roadrunner brand, but one is a very nice hard tolex case with plush velvet lining. It also weighs quite a bit; with guitar, it’s over 30 lbs. I’m considering this case, though, because I could run it over with a car and the guitar would probably still be alright. The other one is one of their “hybrid” cases. It’s fabric covered, but it makes that nice knocking sound when you hit it like a hard case does. I think it’s made of hard foam. It’s also much lighter; the case weighs about as much as the guitar does, if not a bit less. It’s good protection, but not nearly as good as my hard case.

  I’m pretty preferential towards my hybrid case because it’s so much easier to carry around, plus it has a nice big pocket on the side for things that are too big to fit in the under-neck compartment, but will it be able to stand up to the rigors of packing my car and possible various dorm mate abuses?

  i would definitely take the hard case. most teens are not noticably gentle, so the more you can protect it from accidents the better.
