Warmoth Versus Fender Necks?
I replaced my strat neck with a Warmoth neck (because my strat was maple and I wanted rosewood fretboard) about 5 or 6 years ago and it sounded great.
I need a new neck now and I’m not sure whether to simply buy a fender neck (from someone) or buy a Warmoth. Does anyone know which would be better quality (sound better)?
Please no one from Warmoth or Fender reply.
Both are good quality, I doubt that there is a detectable sound difference between either neck. Your sound quality comes more from the strings and pickups you are using. Where is the Fender neck made? California, Mexico, Korea? Warmoth is made on only one place, (far as I know) and they are known for higher quality parts. And you pay$$$ for it. How does it feel to your hand? How are the frets, Crowned, flattened, fret ends smoothed, Can you find a gap filled with finish or glue?
Warmoth did a cone radiused neck years back that was quite cool, but some folks don’t like em. Others like a flat classical style fingerboard. What fits your playing style, and wallet?
Is your Strat vintage? There is value to keeping one all original. If you play it, and have DiMarzio pups, Kahler bridge, make it what you want! Sometimes the more custom is cooler.
