What are the plus and minuses of a Strat and a Les Paul? How about Gibson and Fender in general?
strats and les pauls are two very different guitars. two biggest reasons are the difference in their tone woods, and how their necks are attached. both are equal in my book, they just get two very different sounds. les paul very warm and woody, strat sharper and more defined. Fender still puts out consistent work, while gibson has been slipping. lower quality control. some of their fretwork can be embarrassing considering the asking price. listen to your favorite bands and see what they are playing its a decent way to see how their guitars help shape their tone. off course their guitar is just one piece or their sound. the use of pedals, etc can really help change the sound of a guitar.
