Can an Epiphone Les Paul Special II GT’s tremolo bridge be replaced with a Floyd Rose locking one?
How much would it cost in total?
It can be replaced with one but it requires a lot of work. You have to cut out a spot for the tremolo to fit right which I would leave to the professionals. Furthermore, if you want it to be a double locking (lock on the neck as well) professional modifications will have to be made to the neck as well. Worse off, other than going to your local musical instrument retail or looking for a used one online on eBay or Craigslist, I don’t know where you could find one. You might try looking into a Kahler, which are similar, but quite expensive, or a Bigsby which are easier to set up and lighter on the wallet. You can find a Bigsby on www.musiciansfriend.com and a kahler at www.kahler.com I believe. Again you can also look for a used one of any of these on eBay, just try to keep in mind how much work will have to be done to get it setup even after spending the money to get it in the first place.
