Changing P90 Les Paul pickups for other pickups?
Ok, I’m really interested in buying an Epiphone Les Paul. I found a very nice Epi LP 56 Goldtop at a bargain price! (http://www.guitarcenter.com/Epiphone-Les-Paul-1956-Goldtop-Electric-Guitar-101392173-i1149978.gc)
I’m just wondering, could I be able to change the pickups later if I wanted? Like, lets say I wanted to install these later on: ( http://www.guitarcenter.com/EMG-EMG-ZW-Zakk-Wylde-81-85-Humbucker-Set-101278349-i1323638.gc) would I be able to do it easily?
I ask this because P90′s look a bit smaller than lets say, your typical stock Humbucker pickups.Yes, you should be able to swap out pickups, but if the new pickups are larger, then you’d have to route the body…. which would be a serious tragedy.
The company below has some direct replacements, but nothing as hot as EMGs I believe, at least as a direct replacement for P90′s. There are other options, but think twice before you route the guitar!
