What hand do you hold your fork with if you’re left handed?
My toddler is left-handed and I’m not so I’m trying to learn about left-handed culture and practices. Do I teach him that it’s bad manners to eat with his left hand, or does he get to hold his fork differently?
The fork may be used either in the “American” style (use the fork in your left hand while cutting; switch to right hand to pick up and eat a piece) or the European “Continental” style (fork always in left hand)
So, really, your child is just going to grow up to seem super suave! I’m kinda jealous.
But seriously, it really doesn’t matter much anymore unless he’s having dinner with international dignitaries. Outside of that, either hand should be fine.
