Amplifier feedback. Help!?
I have a digitech GNX4, a hot rod deville 410 amp, and a fender stratocaster. I’m playing with a very high gain setting, sorta like what can be heard on alot of van halen stuff. The problem is whenever i turn the volume up to a stage level, if i play a not i’ll get serious feedback noise. This only happens when using the bridge pickup (single coil) of my guitar. If i use the first 3 positions i don’t have that problem. The tone knobs are rolled to about 6 and the volume is all the way up on the guitar. I really want to use the bridge pickup for the easy pinch harmonics, but i don’t want the noise. Is there something i’m doing wrong? Can i get rid of the feedback at louder volumes? What can i do?
Strats are known for this and I’ve owned a few…
Simple fix…
It’s called Waxing the pickup coils…Yea…Wax!
Take some paraffin wax you buy at the store and melt it into a small pan deep enough to submerge the pickup into the wax all the way under. then wiggle it to get the air out of the coils, then pull it out and let cool.
Scrap the wax off the top of the pickup (not the coil itself) and put it back in your guitar…Now you will have no more feedback.

If you don’t trust yourself to do this and aren’t good with a soldering iron, (to take the pickup out and put it back in) then have a guitar shop do this for you…
Asked them if they wax pickups…
