How does a high neck heel effect a guitar quality?
I just bought a guitar but the neck heel is raised. Does this make a difference in quality compared to other guitars?
It kind of depends. If you keep the string gauges the same or go lighter, then I don’t see why the neck wouldn’t hold together as long as it’s not lifting in a major way currently.
If you want to start stepping up string gauges then you are at risk of raising the neck heel further and causing some major damage.
To be quite honest though, heel lift is a pretty big problem. If the guitar is new I recommend returning it because new necks shouldn’t have such a problem, but it’s an accepted problem with older guitars.
