old guitar restoration help?
I recently found a really old acoustic/classical in my basement. It is a Checkmate G115. I am pretty sure this is the same guitar: http://www.todaysantiquestore.com/prodimages/checkmate%203.JPG
It was still playable but olnly had two strings on it, and they were steel, so i decided to buy a new set. I then discovered that three of the tuning pegs were either missing hardware or didn’t turn correctly, making it impossible to string half of the strings.
Is there any EASY way to repair this? I can’t really do any heavy duty stuff but if it’s easy id love to play this, because it is a fun guitar to play. This guitar was made anywhere from the 50′s to the 70′s so finding parts might be hard. If anyone has any information on this or other checkmate guitars that would be great too.Install new tuning hardware…problem solved.
