My Son is left handed should I buy a left handed acoustic guitar for him?
He just bought a bass guitar,and thought it would be easier to learn on acoustic?
As to the left-handed part…..I am lefty and play guitar and drums right-handed….so really whatever is most comfortable to him should determine whether or not you get a left-handed guitar. But since he’s never played before, most likely either way will not feel comfortable….so, as silly as it may sound, ask him to play air-guitar for you, whichever way he instinctively plays….go with that.
Now to the acoustic/bass/guitar part…..If playing guitar (6 string acoustic or electric) is the ultimate goal, learning on a bass is definitely not the most effective learning choice. This may be obvious to you, but I am not clear on the question and wanted to point that out.
If playing bass guitar is the ultimate goal and you’re asking if learning on an acoustic bass would be easier…..that is debatable but ultimately I believe it will not be easier (most likely harder) and really comes down to preference and end-use..ie…is he planning on playing rock or folk?? If its rock then go with electric because that’s what he will ultimately be playing on, and as I said learning on an acoustic will not make it easier (also consider if its rock, acoustic will not likely keep his interest as well).
