Set yourself a budget, do some research for guitars in that price range, and try them out in a store.
Let the guys there help you.
All you need is a guitar, strap (I’d go with an all leather one), some picks (medium gauge), and some spare strings.
The rest comes later.Look for Ibanez, Takamine, Tanglewood for entry level guitars of decent quality.
Washburn, Seagull, and those for midrange models.Johnny Cash used Martin guitars, but a decent Martin will set you back at least a thousand.
