Most of the necks are rounded. Some older acoustic guitars do have squared necks though. Look for one with thick padding on the rests, I would suggest. You could also think about a wall hanger. They are pretty cool, inexpensive and save some space at the same time. I, personaly have both. I keep a few of my more precious guitars on the wall. Because I don’t play them that often. And the couple that I usually grab on decent stands close by. They also make double and triple stands too, if he has more than one guitar. Good Luck.
