i am making a double guitar like Micheal Angelo Batio and i need some questions answered please help?
i can play guitar ambidextrously and i saw one of mab’s videos of him playing the double neck and i thought to myself i can do that!
because i havnt got lots of money 2 get one made ive decieded to do it myself.question 1: i am planning to get some wood and glue a thin sheet of metal on to the face (part the pickups) and the paint it but i was wondering would i be able to drill and rout through about 1mm thick metal?
question 2: ive also got 2 bolt on necks that have rosewood fingerboards. i was just wondering if i could cut the fingerboard off and stick a new ebony one down. if anyone could give me a any tips on that it would be great?

1) A cheap Dremel tool and several dozen cutting discs will probably help you with the little amount of metal work you’re doing.
2) Don’t “cut” off the rosewood. They’re glued on and can be removed relatively easy. Apply heat (put a towel over the fret board and use a clothes iron) to soften it up and pry it off using a sharp blade, I use a sharpened paint scraper.
I would recommend keeping the original rosewood. You’re going to have to cut and sand an ebony fingerboard to fit and glue it to the neck (requiring specialized tools such neck cauls and luthiers clamps), once done I can almost guarantee it’ll need fret work – more specialized tools and experience – if your not even sure how to drill through a hole in a piece of metal, your just setting yourself up for a lesson in frustration.
