What types of paint or lacquer do I need to paint a guitar?
I want to refinish an old cheap guitar I have to experiment. I already painted one, but the paint is still somewhat sticky to the touch. I think I need a lacquer to go over the paint like a real guitar does. It’s a Fender style guitar so i believe it’s made of alder or ash…perhaps maple. the paint just barely sticks to my skin which is annoying while I play…..oh and the Paint I just applied is Color Works Epoxy Enamel
Look for the same brand paint, but look for a clear coat. Make sure it’s enamel, you don’t want to put lacquer over enamel, it might get fish eye. And if you want a high gloss shine, lightly wet sand the clear coat after it dries with a 2000 grit wet and dry sand paper and make the surface smooth. Then polish it with 3M Foam Polishing Pad Glaze 1st. Then polish it with 3M Imperial Hand Glaze 2nd. It should get a shine that will make a mirror jealous.
