Is my project guitar ruined?
I recently bought a guitar kit, you can basically build it yourself, anyways its a set neck, i glued the neck in, made sure it was perfectly straight, left it and it dried, the problem is is that it LOOKS like that the neck is tilted downward, so the back of the neck is sticking up, now its a VERY slight tilt, im actually considering that its an optical illusion im seeing, I’m not 100% sure that its tilted, but i was wondering if its tilted about the side width of a nickel, if it will make any difference in playability? by the side length of a nickel i mean if you were to lay it down flat and measure the side. like i said its a very small unnoticeable problem, im just wondering IF it’s tilted even that much that it will make too much of a difference. thank you, ryan.
Well. I’m unsure about which way you’re tilting… If the headstock end (tuners) is higher than the body end, then you should be ok provided you don’t mind having really high strings. Just use light strings to keep it from pulling any more. Now if you’re talking about a left right tilt (the side of the neck with the low strings is higher than the side with the high strings) then i’d be hesitant to string it for fear the neck as gonna snap and hit me in the face. Ouch… Either way. Stringing it up is the only way to know for sure.
