is there anyway i can convert my comp into a cheap guitar amp?
i’m buying a electric guitar and i’m looking for a way to just use headphones with it. i know i can get one of those mini-amps for about 30 bucks but does anyone know if i can just get like a connector and plug it in to the mic on my comp and use it with that?
There are audio cards that have an aux input that you can plug the guitar into, just need to buy a converter to go from 1/4 inch to 1/8th inch plug.
If you plug directly into the mic input, your guitar puts out a higher signal than most mics so it will sound distorted, not the good kind though. It’s possible you could blow up the input circuitry if you have the high output or superdistortion pickups.
I bought some DiMarzio mega distortion pickups and they were so powerful they kept pulling my strings out of tune. I use the superslinky strings with action set low enough to touch the pick up pole pieces.
