Can a speaker cab dramatically change your guitar sound?
Hi there,
I recently bought a Peavey Windsor head.
(http://www.musicarius.com/catalog/images/WINDSOR-HEAD.jpg)Now, as I was testing this head in the store, it sounded amazingly good through the speaker cab. Clean and distortion channel were amazing. I recall it was a “Windsor” cab as well.
I bought the amp, but when I got back home and plugged the amp in my own cab, the distortion sounded pretty incredibly awful. I have a “custom” cab: 2x Celestion mid + 2x Celestion tweeter (and it has its years).Would a different cab give me the sound back which I fell in love with in the store?
Or would a regular distortion pedal do as well ?Kind regards,

(Ghent, Belgium)a cabinet can have a great effect on the sound of the amp.
I also don;’t like tweeters in guitar cabs
they sound too bright and make the distortion sound buzzy
try the head with several different cabs
