Does decorating an acoustic guitar warp the sound and wood?
I have a cheap acoustic without a gloss finish from wal-mart that I want to decorate. I already have in mind a design. I want to make a collage of some of the music I’ve played by cutting the papers out and using spray adhesive. I was wondering if I decoupaged it with like modge-podge or something if that would completely screw up the sound or the wood? I will still regularly play the guitar; it is not just an art project.
Also I started coloring the body with chalk pastels and sharpies. Would it be safer to spray hairspray on the pastels so they don’t come off or decoupage them?
Help would be greatly appreciated!it could, unless MAYBE if you apply the coating very thin indeed.
Stickers and other adhesives are a big nono.A paintbrush (spraygun) with a waterbased paint applied extremely lightly would probably be best, if you want to go that way at all.
Of course, given the nature of the instrument there probably isn’t much to ruin in the first place…
