Bought a cheap guitar pack- how do i tell if the guitar is crappy or if the amp is crappy or if both?
i purchased an inexpensive electric starter pack- my first electric. the amp is 10 watts. id’ like to find out if i am dealing with a respectable guitar or if it is dud- or perhaps if the amp just stinks.
i read reviews about this product and guitar was supposed to be a great deal but they said the amp was just OK. i have some concerns as i’ve never dealt with electric before.
when i play bass sounds, pretty much only on the E string, the amp buzzes. when i reduce bass completely the buzzing stops. is this normal for cheap amps or is this something i should contact the retailer about? or does this have anything to do with my guitar/pickups?
also, when i strum hard i sometimes hear crackling.
i did not pay much for this guitar but i would like to know whether it is a lemon or not. thanks.
Both are probably not the greatest quality as you have probably figured out. The amp is probably as good as it will ever be (not good).
Most musicians “trade up” as they get better.
If you want a rock solid amp for not too much money, take a look at the Behringer amps. Any of them will be better than what you have.
