Is giving silver jewelry to your girlfriend being cheap?!?! Or should I pay the price and get 14k whitegold?
I want to get a custom engraved heart locket for my girlfriend for Christmas. It will have our picture inside and a message engraved. The sterling silver locket is in the $50 price range. For the locket that looks exactly the same but is 14K White Gold costs $180!!! I am pretty poor but don’t want to get the silver if its going to fade and require tons of cleaning and be cheaper quality. I will pay for the whitegold if I really have to….
I know my girlfriend is not even picky, in fact she requested silver jewelry….but I want this to be a gift that lasts and that sends a message.Well, traditionally, women would never accept *any* kind of jewelery from a man who was not her fiance or husband. I guess, it depend on the level of your relationship. If you are living together, then it definitely would not be too forward for you to buy her jewelery.
Silver jewelery is still high quality, even though it is not as expensive as gold. It does need to be polished regularly, but it definitely will last. If silver is what you can afford, then that is what you should get. I know you said that you want your gift to be meaningful. The photograph and engraved message will ensure that it is.
