How can i enhance the sound of my Les Paul copy, pickups? Pots?
I have a Greg Bennett Avion 1, which is a Les Paul style guitar. When i first started playing i thought the tone was great, but now that i am gigging a lot more, i figured its time to mod this guitar up so i can move it into my set. It is stock right now and i definatly want to change the PUP’s and pots. And i am going to put a Gibson Les Paul Pickguard on it. (I have the sunburst model) Is there anything else i should add, or change to it to make it sound more like a Gibson Les Paul?
That honestly depends on the kind of music that you are playing. However, if you want it to sound like a Les Paul, replace everything on it with actual Gibson parts. Change your strings to suit your style of playing, and if it doesn’t have them, locking tuners are nice too (I recommend Grover)
Also, have you thought about the problem coming from your amp? Try some different settings. If you use effects or pedals, play around with those too. Most of your sound is gonna come from your amp. You can build yourself a nice Les Paul clone but if your amp isn’t right, it won’t make much difference.
