fender american stratocaster information please!?
after saving up my pocket money I chave found an american stratocaster which i could buy, i have tried otu strats before and know i like them, but i wanted to know 2 things
firstly
is this a genuine serial code for an american strat: “Z1047477″secondly:
apparently its a 2001 model, is this model from a good time (like good quality wood and craftsman) or would it be better getting a more recent second hand stratocaster?thank you!
Hi! Yes, the serial number you reference does appear to be a legitimate range for a 2001 Stratocaster (see http://www.provide.net/~cfh/fender.html#serial). As far as the guitar construction and quality, American Standards are typically alder-bodied, and feature upgraded (from Mexican or Japanese equivalents) electronics and hardware. In reference to the quality level, having owned several Stratocasters over the years, I can say that the quality level is quite variable. Even within a particular year, you can get an instrument that looks and plays like a dream, versus one that just won’t feel right. Neck contour, style of frets, tuners, bridge construction, type of pickups, and are just some of the variables (from year-to-year) that contribute to tone and playability.
