caring for bass flatwound bass strings?
I just got my first fretless (Warick Corvette w/ ebony neck) and immediately put flatwounds on it.
Does anybody have any advice on extending the life of the strings? Actually probably more important – how about and advice on care for the fretboard (frettless board??? that makes little sense
……) Thanks
The one thing that I do know about flat wounds,
is that when you put the flats on, leave them on till you’re done,it is very hard on flats to tighten and loosen them,
the windings can break easily,
and lose their soundRound wounds are more forgiving, if you want to take em off and put em on again
I do like the sound of flats, but they do take more care.
